Not that bad after all
Welp, it wasn’t that bad after all! My page is still a bit cramped and I’m playing around, but I’m finding some nice compromises, and the idea actually seems to be shaping up okay-ish.
So here’s a little spoiler of what I’m thinking about right now:
The gate of the “tower” will be cut open, and be the character sheet in one side and the other you’ll find the rules of the game, arranged in a way that’s easy to check during play.
The dice have been placed so that when you cut them out, the leftover cut mimics the crenellations and merlons (you guys do not know the time it took for me to find their correct names online) at the top of a castle wall — and it looks surprisingly good!
However, since the gameplay is a 3d6 AGE-inspired system, one of the tower facets is left without the need to be cut, and I’m experimenting with how to make that blank face represent the playable character.
I really, really, really didn’t want the PC to also be a cutout… but now that I’m working on the dice tower, with its walls telling the story and presenting the key information in a way that’s both easy to read and aesthetically pleasing, I’m starting to wonder if this might be the best solution after all.
Let’s see where this path leads!
